Due to some unexpected incompatibilities with other plugins, this update will be postponed for now (including the deadline). We are still trying to make it work as soon as possible after the hardware upgrade, but there is no set date yet. Check the forums and discord for any updates on this matter! Hello players, If you have played in the last few days, you might have noticed the drastically reduced TPS (ticks-per-second) of our towny server during peak hours. The most obvious reason for this is the unusually large player numbers we had; however, another reason is the popularity of huge mob grinders. Upgrading the servers hardware (https://shadowkingdom.org/threads/1837/) will help to an extent, but in the long run more people will build more grinders and we would end up where we started. For this reason, we are going to introduce several changes, the most notable among them, is going to be a spawner/mob stacker. This plugin will allow you to stack spawners of the same type up to 15 times, so that essentially the server only has to manage one spawner instead of 15. To stack a spawner, you just have to place a spawner next to one of the same kind. At the same time, all hostile mobs will be stacked up to 15 times with a similar effect. You can then kill those stacked mobs one after the other. This will probably take a bit longer than you are used to, but other problems like loss due to entity cramming or the farm limiter will be much less relevant. We will still use the same plugin as before to mine spawners, so in order to break a spawner you just need Silk Touch and the necessary money and EXP levels. If you try to mine a stacked spawner, you will have to mine them one after the other. Since this update will probably mess a lot of grinders up and we want the transition to go as fast as possible, the staff will pick up the “old” spawners up for you for free. Just catch an admin online or make a /modreq and kindly provide a chest to deposit the mined spawners. There will be a transitional period of about two weeks when you are still allowed to use your old grinder (until the 12th of June). Should there be any old grinders in use after that date, we will start to stack those spawners on our own (still without taking or breaking anything). To make obtaining new spawners and grinders a bit slower, we also increased the costs of picking up spawners to $ 50,000 and the price for spawner crate keys to 100 tokens. As an additional measure, we are going to limit the number of times specific laggy block/items can be placed within a chunk: Spawner: 2 (x15 with the stacker) Hopper: 50 Item Frame: 50 Dispenser: 10 These limits are still preliminary and might be lowered/increased, depending on the necessity and the feedback we receive. If you already have a machine that has more hoppers in a single chunk, it will still work, however, if you want to place another hopper, you first have to remove enough to get beneath that limit. Finally, we are going to introduce a rule against huge super grinders to prevent an abuse of the stacking mechanism of spawners (since you could in theory make grinders with a LOT more spawners now): 18. Creating grinders/mob farms with more than 30 (2 x 15) spawners.
