    Hi everyone,

    On our towny server you are able to protect your survival builds and bases by claiming the land it's on. This can be done by either creating a town or joining an existing once. Towns can claim a certain amount of land as its property. You may be asking yourself "How big can these towns get?" or "How much will it cost?"

    In this post, I am going to explain all the different levels that towns and nations can get and how it affects them, as well as some basic costs.

    Towns

    Starting a town costs $15,000. After that, the town will be categorized into different town levels, depending on the number of residents the town has.

    These town levels are:

    Ruins (0 - 1 residents):

    Mayor prefix: Spirit
    Outpost limit: 1
    Max Dept: $2,000​

    Settlement (2 - 4 residents):

    Mayor prefix: Hermit
    Outpost Limit: 1
    Max Dept: $4,000​

    Hamlet (4 - 9 residents):

    Mayor prefix: Chief
    Outpost Limit: 2
    Max Dept: $10,000​

    Village (10 - 14 residents):

    Mayor prefix: Baron von
    Outpost Limit: 2
    Max Dept: $16,000
    Town (15 - 19 residents):

    Mayor prefix: Viscount
    Outpost Limit: 3
    Max Dept: $32,000
    Large Town (20 - 29 residents):

    Mayor prefix: Count Von
    Outpost Limit: 4
    Max Dept: $48,000
    City (30 - 39 residents):

    Mayor prefix: Earl
    Outpost Limit: 4
    Max Dept: $64,000
    Large City (40 - 49 residents):

    Mayor prefix: Duke
    Outpost Limit: 5

    Metropolis (50 or more residents):

    The daily upkeep of the town is easily calculated as it does not depend on the town level. It is simply $60 per plot the town has claimed. This upkeep is collected from the town bank. If a town doesn’t have enough money in their bank to pay the daily upkeep when it is being collected, the town will become backrupt. In this state, the townback will be in dept. The maximal amount of dept a town can have is determined by its level. If a town can go no higher in dept when the upkeep is being collected, the town will fall and all claimed plots will turn back into wilderness.

    The amount of plots a town can claim is also not depending on the town level. A town can claim 8 plots for each resident it has. In addition to these 6 plots per resident, it is possible to buy a total of 100 extra plots for the town. The first extra plot costs $5,000. This price increases with 1% for each additional extra plot.

    To help cover this daily upkeep, the mayor of the town is able to set a town tax. This daily tax is collected from the balance of every resident in the town that doesn't have a town rank that exempts them from this tax. Residents that aren't able to afford this tax will be kicked from the town.

    Nations

    Starting a nation costs $100,000 and you need to be manager or mayor of a town with at least 10 residents. Any town is able to join a nation as the minimal amount of residents requirement to join a nation is only 1 resident.
    The nation will, just like a town, be categorized into different nation levels, depending on the number of residents the towns in the nation have combined.

    These nation levels are:

    Land of (0 - 14 residents):

    King prefix: Leader
    Town plot bonus: 50
    Town outpost bonus: 1
    Daily upkeep: $3,000
    Federation of (15 - 29 residents):

    King prefix: Count
    Town plot bonus: 60
    Town outpost bonus: 1
    Daily upkeep: $4,200
    Dominion of (30 - 59 residents):

    King prefix: Duke
    Town plot bonus: 70
    Town outpost bonus: 2
    Daily upkeep: $5,400
    Kingdom of (60 - 99 residents):

    King prefix: King
    Town plot bonus: 80
    Town outpost bonus: 2
    Daily upkeep: $6,600
    Empire (100 - 149 residents):

    King prefix: Emperor
    Town plot bonus: 90
    Town outpost bonus: 3
    Daily upkeep: $7,800
    Realm (150 or more residents):

    King prefix: God Emperor
    Town plot bonus: 100
    Town outpost bonus: 3
    Daily upkeep: $9,600​


    Every town that is part of a nation gets a plot bonus and an outpost bonus, which increases the maximal amount of plots/outposts a town can claim. The size of these bonuses depends on the size of the nation.

    The daily upkeep of a nation is a fixed number, depending on the nation level. Just like the daily upkeep of a town, it is collected from the nation bank. Nations that can’t afford this daily upkeep when it is collected, will be disbanded and all towns of that nation will lose the nation benefits.

    To help cover this daily upkeep, the king of the nation is able to set a nation tax. This daily tax is collected from the town bank of every town in the nation. Towns that aren't able to afford this tax will be kicked from the nation.
